Join the EpiCenter team as a Science Communication Assistant!

Are you passionate about science and eager to share it with the world? We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated UC Davis undergraduate student to join our team as a Science Communication Assistant. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in science communication while contributing to innovative research.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with our team to develop engaging and accessible content to communicate research findings and activities to diverse audiences.
  • Assist in creating written materials and figures, including blog posts, fact sheets, and social media content, that effectively convey complex scientific concepts in an easy-to-understand manner.
  • Organize and contribute to our photo archive to support visual storytelling.
  • Conduct literature reviews to support research activities and grant writing.
 
Requirements
  • Currently enrolled at UC Davis as a junior or senior undergraduate student majoring or minoring in the biological sciences.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to engage in scientific discussions and translate scientific concepts into engaging and accurate content for various audiences.
  • Basic knowledge of social media platforms and website content.
  • Availability to commit a minimum of 4 hours per week for 1 quarter, including attending our weekly EpiCenter meeting on Tuesdays at 1-2pm. Students interested in participating over multiple quarters are encouraged to apply. This position can be mostly in-person or remote, however, some activities will require in-person attendance.
  • Must be in good academic standing and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.2.
